Yvette Gagnon (New Art at Bandidas)
Yvette Gagnon was born in Maillardville, a French Canadian community near Vancouver. One of six children, Gagnon grew up in a loving family led by very artistic parents. She discovered her artistic expression when she was seven years old playing in her backyard among an abundance of wild flowers. She recalls scrounging in her Memere’s craft closet to find materials to express her impression of that field. Using scraps of wool, she created her first artistic image, beginning her journey into the world of art.
Gagnon’s evolution into glass art was totally unforeseen. While waiting for some glass shelves for a client, she noticed heaps of broken glass ready to be thrown out.
“What a waste… What can I do with it?”
And so began her work with glass of all shapes and sizes. [Glass art] offers endless possibilities, consistently pushing Gagnon to new discoveries. Each piece is unique, original, and reflects her creativity, energy, enthusiasm, and free spirit.
“I love spending hours placing each shard of glass.
It is a spiritual experience for me to create each piece.”
