$6866 Raised on Earth Day 2018
Earth Day (April 22nd) 2018 was our most successful fundraiser yet! Thanks to everyone who came to eat at Bandidas that day, and to the many of you who donated beyond your bill amount--we almost doubled what we raised last year!
Here is the breakdown of where all the funds came from and how they’ll be distributed:
- $5851 - Donated to RAVEN Trust campaign to support the Heiltsuk First Nation (Raised by customer donations, Bandidas‘ sales, and our fundraising partners Hoyne Brewing, Strange Fellows, Stanley Park Brewing, and Earnest Ice Cream.)
- $590 - Donated to the Classroom Gardener (Raised by Victory Gardens’ plant sale on the sidewalk (+ additional customer donations)
- $425 - Donated to the RAVEN Trust Pull Together campaign to stop Kinder Morgan (Raised by customer donations)
That all adds up to $6866! Thanks to everyone who made this day such a huge success! Shout out to Gary who won the Growler Crate Raffle from Hoyne Brewing!
If you couldn’t make it to the restaurant on Earth Day, you can still donate at the restaurant (ask a manager) or donate on either one of our two RAVEN team pages (to get a tax receipt): Heiltsuk & Pull Together. Our fundraising goal for each of these campaigns is $10,000 for the year--help us get there!
We couldn’t have had better weather, which made for a lovely and bustling sidewalk festival. We heard music from the Solidarity Notes Choir, Quatro (an a capella quartet), Caitlan Read, and Dennis Whorton. All the while Victory Gardens was selling plants, Jan from RAVEN Trust was chatting about their wonderful campaigns, and Earnest Ice Cream was scooping many sun-drenched cones. Thanks to all who contributed to this vibrant sidewalk scene.
The Student Art Show will remain on our walls for 6 to 8 weeks. Please take a minute or two to engage with some of this colourful and insightful art.
